12/2 Reading Portions: 2 Chronicles 1; 1 John 1; Micah 7; Luke 16
Micah 7:18
Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love.
SINS
Who, indeed, is like our God? Our God’s anger isn’t retained forever because His one and only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, received God’s forever-wrath for sins our King did not commit when He hung upon Calvary’s tree. Because of the Lord Jesus Christ, God delights in steadfast love. Yes, His mercy endures forever, and because of Christ, God graciously pardons our iniquities and passes over our transgressions. His “compassion on us” is revived through atoning grace (Micah 7:19a). By Christ’s nail-pierced feet, He has…
…tread our iniquities underfoot. Micah 7:19b
By the outspread arms of Christ on Calvary’s tree, God has…
…cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19c
Yes! what infinite treasures you and I have in the poverty of Christ— who was wealthier than the riches of Solomon—
…yet for your sake [and mine] He became poor, so that you [and I] by His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9
And if Micah’s credentials as a prophet are not enough, we have many other witnesses of how God’s amazing grace has pardoned our iniquity. David declares:
As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
In a letter, King Hezekiah states of the LORD:
“You have cast all my sins behind Your back. Isaiah 38:17
And YHVH God Himself proclaims through the prophet Isaiah,
“I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” Isaiah 43:25
Are your sins and mine forgiven in Christ? Unequivocally and without a doubt! And our Christ is delighted to do so. Hallelujah! What a forgiving Savior!
Each verse reveals our righteous King,
Yes, for our sins He died,
And pardons us to one day bring
Us home as His true bride.
