Psalm 138:7
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life; You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me.
JUDGMENT
Although you and I may walk in the midst of trouble, we have nothing to fear from the world, from Satan, or from that trouble if we are in Christ— for the Lord Jesus Christ preserves your life and mine. Sometimes, the Lord God brings the enemies of the cross to set up their idolatrous thrones at the entrance of our souls’ gates, with attempts to surround the protective walls of our gospel faith, just as God had done in the days of Jeremiah (Jer 1:15). We should treat these situations and circumstances like any other day, just as Jeremiah was commanded by the LORD in his day:
“But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them.” Jeremiah 1:17
Our daily lives are filled with moments so the Lord Jesus Christ may use us, so He, through us, will declare His judgments against idolatry, insolence, and all iniquity— those things that oppose Christ’s holy name (Jer 1:16). Each instance faith prevails in us because Christ Jesus prevails through us (Jer 1:19), He makes you and I…
“a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.” Jeremiah 1:18
Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, your gospel testimony of Christ and mine make us vessels of Christ’s holy judgment against iniquity, idolatry, and insolence upon the earth until He comes. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Though trouble comes against our souls,
Christ will preserve our lives;
These moments come so He may show
His glory from on high.
