Genesis 1:31And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
GOOD
On the sixth day of creation, having brought forth both clean and unclean land creatures before our triune God even created mankind in His own image and after His own likeness, He saw that what He created was good (Gen 1:25). At the end of the sixth day, just before the evening of the very first Sabbath, Elohiym God looked upon the entire creation result of the past six days and, and behold, it was very good. In Hebrew,
והנה־טוב מאד (v’-hin-NĀH tōv m’-ŌD)
The creation work ended with the thrice good approval from our triune God.
It was good because, in creating the heavens and the earth, the glory of God’s handiwork could be made manifest (Psa 19:1); for only God is good (Mark 10:18), and nothing can be good unless it is born of our sovereign God. As it is written,
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
It was good because, though the creation of the heavens and the earth would suffer perilous problems and precarious pitfalls, our triune God is good, and…
…that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
It was good because, by creating the heavens and the earth, the stage was set for God to be glorified through the gospel—the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection of His only Son, Jesus Messiah. As it is written,
All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
