Genesis 10:7
The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
PRECIOUS
Besides being mentioned three times here in Genesis (Gen 10:6-8) and three times in First Chronicles (1 Chr 1:8-10), as a people or a nation, Cush is mentioned another twenty-four times in the Hebrew Scriptures, often translated as Ethiopia, or personalized as the Ethiopians.
Not only did the Queen of Sheba bring gifts to Solomon, desiring to see his wealth and hear his wisdom (1 Ki 10:1-9), but also the ruler of Seba brought gifts to Solomon as well:
May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts! Psalm 72:10
The wealth of Seba must have been exceedingly great as YHVH God speaks of the redemption of Israel through the prophet, Isaiah, by the ransom of Egypt, Cush, and Seba:
But now thus says the LORD, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in My eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.” Isaiah 43:1-4
How much more valuable is our redemption therefore in Christ Jesus, whose precious blood is infinitely more valuable than all the wealth in Egypt, Cush, and Seba? It is written,
He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
And again,
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19
