Ezekiel 30:24
“And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him like a man mortally wounded.”
DETAILS
For more than 40 years now, I’ve firmly and faithfully believed in God’s sovereignty; and in His all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere-present nature. Yet I recognize how little time I give to meditations on His attributes; especially, as it pertains to His dealings in ALL things. Today, YHVH God not only presents judgment upon Egypt, but He also explains how He will do it. While Egypt is a wealthy (Ezek 30:10) yet idolatrous nation (Ezek 30:13), God brings another idolatrous nation in, Babylon, to dispense His holy justice upon Egyptian insolence. It is always a praiseworthy exercise to meditate upon the powerfully wise workings of our amazing Triune God. In our own temptations and tribulations, we often quote Romans 8:28,
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.
Yet I don’t meditate upon God’s detailed activity behind the scenes as often as I should. Not only was this verse a prophetic utterance of true historical facts that came to pass, but it is also a truth of what God has been doing since the beginning among men and nations. Moreover, this reminds us how God used the wickedness of men to arrest the Lamb of God and crucify Him, to be the cursed Sacrifice upon a tree (Gal 3:13). This also presents a spiritual picture of what has happened in our lives prior to our own salvation; that is, the wicked areas of our lives were warring with one another so that our “Mansoul,” taken captive by the devil through our sin, could be redeemed through the trumpet sound of Christ’s gospel. God still does this today, so that all may know, including us, that Christ Jesus is the LORD (Ezek 30:26). Hallelujah! What a detailed Savior!
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
I sing redundantly!
For Christ’s great truth dwells in His Word,
Detail’d abundantly!
