1 Peter 1:18-20
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.
PRECIOUS
For God, there was no “Plan B.” The crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ was, is, and evermore shall be the only plan of creation, salvation, redemption, and restoration. Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Those things thought valuable by a sinful world, such as silver or gold, are fleeting and perishable. They cannot compare with the precious blood of Christ, which is eternal, imperishable, and infinitely invaluable. Jesus Christ is the Light of the World who came into the world to save us. It seems hard to believe that there are scenarios in some theologies suggesting that there will be a period of time when God’s plan will remove the everlasting gospel of Christ and allow men to return to the shadows of temple worship, animal sacrifices, and the Aaronic priesthood. Certainly, these implements foreshadowed the coming of Christ; nevertheless, Christ, having come in the fullness of the time (Gal 4:4), displayed the fullness of His light upon Calvary, and leaving an empty tomb, ascended to the right hand of glory, leaving a gospel legacy far superior than angels, Abraham, Moses, temple sacrifices, and the priesthood of fallen men (Heb 1-13). The despicable thought of any inferiority of or insufficiency in Christ’s gospel should be shunned from our minds before it soils our souls.
“This Jesus is the Stone that was rejected…. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:11, 12
Is the cross of Christ everything to you? (Gal 6:14). It is most precious to God (1 Cor 2:2). Hallelujah! What a precious Savior!
God forbid that I should glory,
Save in the cross of Jesus Christ;
My heart knows no other story,
But God’s great plan and sacrifice.
