2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
ESTABLISHED
Although the faithfulness of Moses (Num 12:7) was prophetic of Christ (Heb 3:1-2), the faithfulness of the Lord Jesus was much, much more than any other man; yes, and more than all other men. Why? Not only was He perfect, sinless and holy Man, but the Lord Jesus is also eternal God, the same in essence with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and equal in power and glory with them as well. The Lord Jesus is unchanging in His nature (Heb 13:8), unyielding in His power (Matt 28:18), unerring in His love (1 Cor 13:8), unflinching in His wisdom (Jude 1:25, KJV), and unwavering in His faithfulness (2 Tim 2:13). As self-existent and self-sufficient God, Jesus Christ is independent in His being, and therefore, independent of any influence in all His creation. If Christ has saved you and me by His grace, He is faithful for His own name’s sake (Ezek 36:22-23; Phil 1:6). He will not falter or fail in the work He has begun in you and me. The Lord Jesus will establish you and guard you against the evil one because His faithfulness is absolute and is as certain as the sun rising in the east and as true as the climate is warmer here in Kyle, Texas than it is in Ninilchik, Alaska. Our assurance of salvation does not hinge upon our hanging on to Jesus, but on His steadfast grip upon us. Hallelujah! What a wonderful Savior!
Behold, the One who helps the weak,
He is the Son of Man;
He loves the poor and saves the meek
By God’s own faithful hand.
