Mark 1:11
“You are My beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
FAITH
There was never a moment in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ when He was ever unpleasing to the heavenly Father. Not only did the Father announce this from heaven at the Lord’s baptism, but He also did so before Peter, James, and John on a high mountain (Matt 17:1-5). Jesus Himself said that He always did the things which were pleasing to the Father (John 8:29). In fact, while Jesus hung upon the cross and received the full wrath of God for sins He did not commit, He was pleasing to the heavenly Father (Isa 53:10).
Pleasing God is synonymous with glorifying God. Jesus glorified the Father in all He did on earth (John 17:4). When it comes to pleasing and glorifying God, Jesus could not do one without doing the other. It is likewise for us; yet we are not perfect. Our Lord Jesus alone was perfect. He was pleasing to the Father in every thought, word, and deed every moment of every day... even in His sleep.
We, on the other hand, have enough corruption remaining in our mortal flesh that we will fail often. Yet do not fret as there is good news. The…
…blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7b
Moreover, when we trust in the precious sacrifice of our Lord by faith, we walk in His light (1 Jn 1:7a), have fellowship with the Father and the Son (1 Jn 1:3), and are pleasing to our heavenly Father, for it is written that…
…without faith it is impossible to please Him. Hebrews 11:6
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Glory belongs to the Father,
We please Him when living by faith,
Trusting in Christ and no other,
‘Til we see our Lord face to face.
