He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; Proverbs 2:7

STORED

Heavenly wisdom is available for every child of God (the upright); however, it is not automatic. Sound wisdom is in the hand of the Father and stored up at the throne of grace. It will be dispensed for the asking (Jas 1:5a); and when we ask in faith without wavering (Jas 1:6), God gives generously without rebuking us for having asked (Jas 1:5b). His liberal supply is sufficient for our situational and circumstantial need. It is not an endless, eternal supply; for God stores up sound wisdom.

Wisdom is stored with God because we must constantly rely in and trust upon our Lord for His sound wisdom as needed. The Father is our source of wisdom, and that wisdom is dispensed by the Holy Spirit as we abide in Christ. Jesus said,

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4

If we are not abiding in the conscious presence of Jesus Christ, we would not ask; or if we did ask, we would not receive, for we would be asking with wrong motives (Jas 4:3), by asking apart from faith in Christ (Jas 1:6). Wisdom received from heaven’s blessed store helps us to abide in Christ more securely, more splendidly, and more supremely, bearing the fruit of wisdom so others may taste of the character of Christ (Psa 34:8).

Finally, wisdom is stored up and dispensed to God’s children for the asking as a testimony of God’s grace in Christ, since sound wisdom is for the upright. Wisdom through the redeemed testifies of Christ’s substitutionary atonement and imputed righteousness. We are upright because He who was altogether upright, perfect, and sinless, redeemed us for the Father’s glory. Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Sound wisdom is dispens’d by God
For those who ask by faith;
To testify of God’s own Son
And demonstrate God’s grace.
