Hebrews 13:16
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
NEGLECT
To do good and to share God’s abundant blessings with others seems obvious. Nevertheless, because of the corruptions which still remain in our mortal flesh, we must be reminded not to neglect these loving actions. When we neglect them once, it is enough to produce a series of neglects until they have disappeared from our regular practice for quite some time. Good works and generosity please our heavenly Father. He desires His children to live joyfully in the glories of His grace, with the effects of His grace flowing through us to one another. One of the ways we may keep from neglecting these graces is to be daily in God’s Word. When Christ is exalted from our text, who has always done good and laid down His all for us on Calvary’s tree, this is powerful to provoke us unto love and good works (John 15:4). Another way to instill these graces is in our often gathering with believers (Heb 10:24-25). The love shed abroad in our heats by the Holy Spirit given us is gloriously infectious. You and I hone the character of our friends in Christ like iron sharpens iron (Prov 27:17). May we, by God’s grace, persevere to not neglect to do good and to share what we have.
Do not neglect to do good things
Or share what God has giv’n;
It subdues our flesh and death’s sting,
Pleasing our God in heav’n.
Share What You Have
Good words for today. Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in ourselves and what we have going on, we neglect to see other's needs.
