Daniel 2:28
“…but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries …”
STONE
When asked by King Nebuchadnezzar if the young Jew was able to interpret his dream, Daniel answered by immediately redirecting the attention and the credit to God in heaven— and this, even before Daniel revealed the dream and gave his interpretation. This is the royal way for all of the heavenly King’s children. Every situation and circumstance is designed by God’s providence for His people to bring Him glory— and since Christ has come, lived, died, rose, and ascended into heaven, we were born to exalt Christ Jesus unto the Father’s ultimate glory.
The image Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream was destroyed by a stone which was cut; but it wasn’t cut by human hands. This stone was none other than Jesus Christ, the begotten Son of God, our Rock and chief Cornerstone. If there is a mystery from Scripture to be revealed, we need only ask the Lord Jesus Christ. If it is not a secret thing which remains only with the LORD our God (Deut 29:29), then the Lord Jesus will reveal it to us, if we are able to receive it (Mark 4:33). It may be through a pastor or teacher. It may be through one of the brethren or one of our beloved sisters. Christ may reveal it from a book. Or it may be revealed as He whispers to us with a still, small voice (1 Ki 19:12)… during prayer, in the laugh of a child, when attending the celebration of a friend, or through the salvation of a lost soul.
Ask the Lord Jesus about the mysteries of His precious gospel. He will reveal to you the breadth and length and depth and height of God’s love and grace through HIs death upon the cross. When this blessed truth is revealed, in majesty yet undisclosed, all other questions seem trivial indeed. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
The God in heaven does reveal
The myst’ries of Christ’s cross—
All matters are but pale and weak
When shown salvation’s cost.
