Resuming the Devotionals
Having returned from Virginia and ready to roll
I apologize for the long pause. As I mentioned before I left, my cousin’s wife fell off a patio deck on Christmas Eve and died from injuries incurred in the accident. I drove to Fredericksburg, Viriginia to provide comfort to my cousin and his family, and I was honored with the privilege of officiating the funeral service. Since I retired from pastoral ministry because my voice has given out and I can no longer preach or teach, the Lord was gracious to me, allowing my voice to hold out somewhat for the sixteen minutes of the funeral service. My plan for the devotionals will resume tomorrow, February 1, 2026, but rather than writing a devotional thought taken from the one of the four portions scheduled in the Robert Murray McCheyne Bible Reading Plan, I will write Christ-centered devotional thoughts from the book of Genesis. I do still encourage you to read the portions from the McCheyne plan, however. It has been a blessing to me for nearly 40 years, and a blessing to my family for nearly 35 years.
I also plan to publish some short articles on contemporary topics and news items from time to time, expressing a biblical, Christ-exalting perspective on those topics.
Thank you for your patience, prayers, and patronage.
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you.
In Christ by God’s grace,
Jon Cardwell
