Psalm 77:13
Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?
HOLY
God’s way is holy because our God’s nature and character are holy. He is good. He is great. There is no one like our God. Although He has made His might known among us, we still have a tendency to forget His holiness and goodness. Any little calamity, situation, or circumstance arising in our lives seems to be enough to momentarily topple our faith and cause us to act as if God was unholy, ungracious, or not good at all. In moments of tribulation, as with the psalmist, we sometimes ask ourselves:
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Psalm 77:9
In times of trouble, as with the psalmist, we might entertain the false idea that God’s affectionate favor has ceased (Psa 77:7).
Because of the corruptions of our flesh, because of the weakness of our faith, and because of our tendency toward self-idolatry (pride), we need to remind ourselves often that God is holy and there is none like Him. We must determine to ponder all God’s glorious works and mediate upon His mighty deeds (Psa 77:12). He is a God who works wonders; and He has made His awesome strength known among the people of God (Psa 77:14), most especially through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Do you sometimes have trouble pondering the wondrous works of God? Bring your thoughts to the Lord Jesus, the fullness of the tri-une God bodily (Col 2:9), the One who…
…is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature. Hebrews 1:3
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Good and holy is our great Lord,
There’s none who can compare;
Ponder daily His glor’ous works
And faithful love and care.
