The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 2 Thessalonians 2:9
SIGNS
Christianity in the past thirty years has gone absolutely sign crazy. Typically, I would confine derogatory statements like that to the United States. Since my salvation in 1985, I’ve seen this phenomenon all over the world— folks trying to gauge the Lord’s return by attempting to interpret the “signs.” Certainly, there will be signs of the nearness of His approach (Matt 24:3); yet, the Lord Jesus also said, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign” (Matt 12:39). Today’s verse is also a reminder of the signs appearing before His return— that they will be false, and will come by the activity of Satan in the lawless one. We lust after our carnal, creature comforts so badly that we have adopted sign insanity— seeing signs everywhere we look; moreover, staring at those signs with such import and religious zeal that we nary see anything else. Had we had our hands upon the wheel of a car, we would have wrecked long ago, for our eyes were glued to the signs and not upon the road. We need to keep our eyes on the Road, so to speak; that is, on the Lord Jesus Christ, because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). In other words, He is the road. If our eyes are on Jesus, we will see Him when He comes. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
The signs are but a glance, a glimpse,
A momentary view;
They’re not the road, but only hints
Of Christ, the Way, who’s Truth.
