Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.
SALVATION
Our salvation in Jesus Christ is a full and complete salvation. His is a salvation that is both sufficient and powerful. As the sinless Lamb of God, Jesus bore our iniquities and took our sins upon Himself as if they were His very own. As Jesus bore our sins and iniquities upon Calvary’s cross, He also bears us up with His own righteousness, since He is seated upon heaven’s throne.
Christ bears us up as our Advocate when we sin (1 Jn 2:1). So powerful is His saving grace and precious blood, when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins because He does so based upon His finished work (1 Jn 1:9).
Christ bears us up as our only Mediator before God (1 Tim 2:5). God is holy; and a consuming fire (Heb 12:29). Jesus bridges the gap between God and man, and upholds us because we cannot uphold ourselves, due to the corruptions which still remain in our mortal flesh.
Christ bears us up as our great High Priest (Heb 4:14-15). As Jesus stands before God on behalf of His people, He also upholds us in our prayers and petitions so we may come boldly and confidently before the throne of grace (Heb 4:16).
Christ bears us up as our great Prophet (Deut 18:18-19). As Jesus reveals God to us (John 1:18), He upholds us by the truth of His Word (John 20:31) to fulfill God’s will through our salvation.
Christ also bears us up as our King of kings (John 18:37; Rev 19:16). Because of His victory on the cross, King Jesus brings us unto submission to Himself (Psa 110:3; Phil 2:13) and defends us in restraining and conquering His and our enemies (Matt 2:6; 1 Cor 15:25).
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
We’re borne up each and ev’ry day
By Jesus Christ, our Lord;
Yet it does not mean we do not pray,
Nor forsake His Word.
