I give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify Your name forever.
EVERLASTING
While upon this earth, we are as those in trouble (Psa 86:7a), living in a sinful world, surrounded by wicked souls, and dwelling in a body full of the corruptions of flesh which still remain. Through Christ, we have a God we may call upon who will most certainly answer us (Psa 86:7b). Jesus is unique in who He is and what He has done (Psa 86:8). Jesus is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Psa 86:15), so that all ethnicities worldwide will come to worship Him and glorify His name (Psa 86:9). Jesus is wonderful in all His work and all-powerful in every deed, which sets Him apart as the only true God (Psa 86:10). Because of His exalted person and His excellent work while on earth as perfect, sinless Man, we must learn from Him so we may walk in His truth; and request from Him, by His enthroned power as almighty God, to keep us from a divided heart in order to reverence His name in loving and unhindered devotion (Psa 86:11). How could we not give thanks with a whole heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, our God? With thanksgiving, by the inclination of His ear to our poor and needy pleas (Psa 86:1), we may also rejoice in steadfast and patient hope that one day we will glorify the name of Jesus forever. This is everlasting life! We are with Him now in spirit. One day, we will be with Christ Jesus forever; and forever and ever, we will glorify His precious, blessed, and exalted name. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
I give You thanks, O Lord, my God;
With my whole heart, I will
Your name forever glorify—
My mouth Your praises fill.
