Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Psalm 48:10
The Right Hand of God is certainly speaking of the Lord Jesus Himself. He is seated at God’s right hand (Psa 110:1; Heb 1:3, 13; 10:12; 12:2, et al). Figuratively, the right hand signifies honor, strength, ability, the essence of one’s character, and from that character flows the very best of one’s actions. Jesus Christ, as God’s righteous Right Hand, is filled with “the radiance of the glory of God” because He is “the exact imprint of His nature” (Heb 1:3). Jesus Christ, as a flesh and bone Man, overflowed with the very righteousness of God so that those simply touching the fringe of His garment by faith, would be healed of diseases earthly medical knowledge was at a loss to address (Matt 14:36; 9:20-21). Since the fringes along the hem of the garment and the cord of blue in each corner were reminders to do God’s commandments (Num 15:38-40), Jesus was so filled with God’s righteousness that He is the only human being who ever lived, or ever will, who has kept God’s commandments perfectly on this planet, both actively and passively (Rom 10:4). Jesus was so filled with the righteousness of God that the Father declared anyone trusting by faith in Christ’s righteous life and sacrificial death for salvation would have Christ’s very righteousness accounted to them before God (2 Cor 5:21). So powerful is the righteousness of God in Christ that, in His ruling and reigning upon the throne of heaven, He empowers His subjects to live as righteously as sinners saved by grace are able (Rom 8:37) —though not wholly perfect in this life because of the corruptions still remaining in our mortal flesh (Gal 5:17; Phil 3:12). So glorious is the overflowing righteousness of Christ, Jesus will one day return in righteousness to defeat all rebellion and faithfully execute judgment in all truth upon the wicked, according to His person and prophetic Word (Rev 19:11). Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Holy, righteous Right Hand of God:
Is Jesus, Son of man;
Who’ll one day return to this sod
Fill’d with God’s righteous plan.
