Psalm 118:15
Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly,”
RESPONSE
Because He is eternal God, Jesus Christ does valiantly at the right hand of the Father (Heb 12:2). He continues to do so as our Mediator (1 Tim 2:5), our Intercessor (Heb 7:25), and our Advocate (1 John 2:1). As perfect Man upon earth, the Lord Jesus did the most valiant act the universe has ever seen or would ever see: He made Himself the purification of sins through His death upon Calvary’s tree and then rose from the dead and ascended to sit at the Father’s right hand (Heb 1:3). The true and eternal, infinitely priceless Treasure of God’s universe laid down His life of His own free will, suffering God’s eternal wrath, bearing our iniquities, died upon that tree, and shed His precious blood so you and I might be forgiven. Is that single thought not enough to cause us to spring forth in glad songs of Christ’s amazing grace and incredible salvation? Okay, if not a song, there is a response in your soul, a jolt in your heart— am I right? If you’re truly saved by God’s grace, there is.
I’ve actually run into people who profess to be Christian yet treat their salvation as really nothing more than a business transaction. “I’m just not an emotional person,” was one excuse given. To that I respond, “Baaaaah-loney!” Jesus wept at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:35); and wept over the disbelief of Jerusalem (Luke 19:41-42). We should certainly not be led by our emotions; nevertheless, we should not be void of them either. If one is saved and what I’m saying is foreign to them, it may be because he or she has never given over to truly look upon Christ and His cross with faith’s spiritual eye—to meditate upon the holy Sacrifice. The flesh has crept up and kept them from truly considering the magnitude of Christ’s majesty and magnificence as our atoning Substitute. No regard begets no response; shallow regard begets pitiful response; but deep regard brings passionate response— godly sorrow unto repentance; joy unspeakable unto glad songs of salvation and thanksgiving; etc. Consider Christ’s cross. Do so now! It will bless your day. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
