Psalm 21:11
Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
VICTORIOUS
Satan cannot win. The enemies of God cannot win. Their plans may be detailed, elaborate, and grandiose. Nevertheless, they will not succeed. God’s enemies may devise mischief against Christ’s people, for unbelieving reprobates are imaginative and cunning in their malicious intent. Yet they do not have the ability to overcome us. To overcome us is to overcome God Himself, since the Holy Spirit dwells within us (John 14:16-17). This is why Jesus said that the gates of hell cannot prevail against His church (Matt 16:18). Satan’s authority was crushed when the heel of the Lord Jesus Messiah was bruised on Calvary’s tree (Gen 3:15). Sometimes, we may feel powerless against the wiles of the devil, against the trials of circumstance, against the hatred of the world, and against the persecution by the godless upon the godly; however, this is just the weakness of our flesh rising to oppose the truth. The flesh attempts to keep us from having and holding an eternal perspective. Though Satan may accuse us, we have an Advocate with the Father in Jesus Christ (1 Jn 2:1). Though principalities and powers may wrestle against us, we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loves us (Rom 8:37). Though the unbelieving world may hate us, persecute us, and even kill our bodies, we do not fear them for God has our eternity in the palm of His hand (Matt 10:28), by the strength of His nail-scarred wrist. What blessed provision and victory we have from God in Christ! His grace is truly sufficient for us. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Though Satan and the world doth hate
Our God, and you and me,
We are victorious for Christ’s sake,
Their plans will not succeed.
