Hebrews 7:27
He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for He own sins and then for those of the people, since He did this once for all when He offered up Himself.

Today’s verse will be a source of eternal wonder, delight, and utmost devotion. Its truth is a joy unspeakable for which I consider it an honor to share with you today. Yet it is so infinitely blessed that I will fail in conveying the simplest expression of its majesty. We sing a hymn at Calvary Baptist every now and then, “Complete in Thee.” It is a wonderful song and filled with the truth of the results of our sufficient and thorough salvation in Christ Jesus. We could not sing this song with appropriate heart and astute mind, however, if our utterances did not spring forth from this truth of our Christ— the Lord Jesus Messiah is a complete Savior. Although He was very Man in His humanity, He was not like those high priests foreshadowed in Aaron’s priesthood because He has no need… to offer daily sacrifices. He was sinless, so He needed no sacrifice for His own sins. As the “priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek” (Heb 7:17), Jesus was the supreme and ultimate forever-Priest. As eternal God, He is sufficient in Himself and, therefore, has no need. Christ’s sacrifice was complete for those of the people because He did this once for all when He offered up Himself on the cross. His work as Priest and propitiating Sacrifice is both eternal and powerful, reaching back to those who would trust in His coming since the days of Adam, and atoning for all those who would believe by faith since He laid down His life on Calvary’s tree. His atoning death and interceding priesthood illuminate and enlightens as it…
trains [our] hands for [spiritual war], and [our] fingers for [daily gospel] battles. Psalm 144:1
Truly, blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer. Hallelujah! What a complete Savior!
Our warfare must be waged in Christ,
For He alone has paid the price,
To save our souls from sin and strife,
And make us victors in this life.
