Genesis 29:20
So Jacob served seven years for Rachel,
and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.
DAYS
We all recognize the longsuffering of God as it pertains to the timing of Christ’s return. Peter quotes the psalmist when he reminds us…
…not [to] overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
Have we considered that the two thousand years of Christ serving His church, building His church, and ministering to His beloved bride, that time seemed to Him but a few days because of the love He has for us. As Jacob served his future father-in-law, Laban, for Rachel, it presents to us a prophetic foreshadow of Christ serving His own heavenly Father for the preparation of His beloved bride, His church. While our precious Lord Jesus tarries in His return, every moment He sits upon His heavenly throne is a moment to remind us of His immense and eternal love for you and me. King Jesus will serve His entire time, working in the fullness of joy and with a heart filled with infinite love for the bride He is making us to be. Christ’s love for us is amazing, enduring and matchless. As He awaits the time appointed by His heavenly Father, we must wait in times of tribulation, which works within us patience for the perfect appearance of the One who gave His all. In that Day, He will carry us home to abide eternally in the bosom of His incomparable love. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Yes, Jacob served for seven years
To make Rachel his bride;
But greater is the love of Christ,
For us, He bled and died.
