Psalm 4:2
O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies?
LIES
Certainly, this verse is prophetic of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the eternal God incarnate; the most honorable Man who walked upon the planet; and yet He was shamed by beatings, mocking, ridicule, spitting, and having His beard plucked from His face (Isa 50:6; Mark 14:65). Christ’s accusers relished insidious threats (loved vain words), and the vile religious leaders sought false witnesses (Mark 14:56) against Him (seek after lies). If fallen mankind would impose such villainy against our Lord and King, how much more would such sin and shame be levied upon us? In America, we have experienced for several years the effects of such behavior at an alarming rate. Though we are children of the King of kings, unbelieving looters, lunatics, and lawmakers hurl insults upon our faith and our love for Christ. They love vain words and seek after lies, such as evolution, climate change, gender confusion, and perverse social justice in order to embolden their hardened hearts against the truth of a good, holy, and sovereign God; and…
by their unrighteousness[, they] suppress the truth. Romans 1:18
Moreover, claiming “to be wise, they became fools” (Rom 1:22) because…
the god of this world has blinded [their] minds. 2 Corinthians 4:4
We must, therefore, more than ever before, cling to the Truth, which is Jesus Christ our Lord (John 14:6). We must be sanctified by the truth of God’s Word (John 17:17). We must submit to the Spirit of truth so He may guide us into all truth (John 16:13).
How long, O Lord, will Christ’s honor
Be turned into shame;
By men who love vain words and seek
Lies ‘cause they’re insane?
