There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
“Evangelical feminists” love to use this verse to justify their perverse position that women are equal to men in every way, including their “right” to assume positions of authority in Christ’s church. They lift this verse from its context in order to create a pretext, and thus, run afoul with the gospel. In this chapter, the apostle presents logical argument after argument that, since our salvation comes by God’s grace through faith, a matter of the Spirit (Gal 3:1-2), our sanctification also occurs by God’s grace through faith, again a matter of the Spirit and not by the works of the law (Gal 3:3-6). Then, by logical proposition after proposition, Paul lays out the truth of justification by grace through faith (Gal 3:7-27), in order to bring us this exalted conclusion, we redeemed souls, are all one in Christ Jesus because of God grace, God’s sovereignty, and Christ’s supreme sacrifice. Not only is our salvation, and sanctification, not by works of the law, neither is it by our ethnicity (Jew nor Greek), nor by our employment status (slave nor free), nor by our gender (male and female). Since we are all one in Christ Jesus, this verse also expresses that our portion and inheritance in Christ is the same; because Christ’s heavenly inheritance is ours. He won it, not for Himself. He is eternal God and owns it all. Jesus, by His redeeming sacrifice, purchased the eternal glories for you and me. Then, the question may arise, “What are those crowns and rewards about, which we will receive for works done in Christ while upon earth?” God’s Word indicates, in that Judgment Day, when all is revealed and we see Christ face to face, everything that remains of our good works in Christ was accomplished by the Spirit and the strength of Christ’s might (1 Cor 3:13-14; Eph 6:10). Yes, by sovereign grace. This is why we will cast those crowns at the feet of Christ (Rev 4:10); for apart from Christ Jesus, we could do nothing (John 15:5). Hallelujah! What a Savior!
In Christ, there is no second class
When it comes to our salvation:
Neither gender roles, nor jobs past,
Neither race, nor skin, nor nation.
