Joshua 21:45
Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
SUFFICIENT
At this point in the book of Joshua, the major battles had been waged, the chief enemies had been conquered or subdued, and final steps in possessing the land and dwelling therein were underway. There were still idolaters in the allotted inheritance; yet God had faithfully brought Israel into the land He promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Gen 15:19-20) through the leadership of Joshua. God is good on His promises and faithful to carry them out. The promise God made to Abraham (while he was still called Abram), that his offspring would receive the land from the Nile River to Euphrates River (Gen 15:18), was fulfilled in Solomon’s kingdom (2 Chr 9:26). Moreover, we recognize that the conquest of the Promised Land is reflective of our salvation in Jesus Christ. Even Joshua’s name foreshadows the name of Jesus. Jesus, Y’shua, means “will save” (Matt 1:21). Joshua, Yah’hoshe, means YAH is salvation. Yes, though we have entered God’s Promise of salvation in Christ by grace through faith, there are still Anakim and idolaters in the corruptions of the flesh which remains. We need not fear when it comes to spiritual or temporal battles, however. The power of Christ’s cross to save a soul is the same eternal and sufficient power to sanctify the soul and make a believer more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ (Rom 8:37). Therefore, we can count on God’s promises because…
…all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 2 Corintians 1:20, KJV
They will come to pass. Does the sun shines? Yes and amen! Do storms arise? Yes and amen! Do temptations come? Yes and amen! Is sin forgiven? Yes and amen! Is Christ illuminated in the Word? Yes and amen! Is there joy or sorrow? Yes and amen! Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Lord Jesus, You have led me to
Salvation by your cross!
Because Your promises are true,
No battle can be lost!
